How I Can Help
Embarking on a search for a counsellor can really be quite overwhelming. There are so many good therapists out there skilled and experienced in so many different modalities using different techniques. It can be difficult to know what’s right, especially if you’ve no prior knowledge or personal experience of counselling.
I offer a tailored approach, but one that’s underpinned with person centred theory which means that I hold you as the expert in your life. I will work with you to gain an understanding of your experience from your perspective and by offering empathy, being fully present, real, and accepting I will support you to gain a deeper understanding of your feelings.
How Many Sessions Will I need?
I recommend 6-12 sessions, although I work open-ended according to what feels right for you and your needs. Over the course of our sessions, you will hopefully move forward in your own way feeling reconnected with your sense of self-worth, your own values and the world. Depending on what you bring to sessions I may if it feels appropriate integrate techniques from other modalities or theories that I’ve been trained in such as grounding and stabilisation when working with trauma, introduce breathing and relaxation techniques or utilise CBT skills to explore connections between thoughts and behaviours to gain awareness for change.
Sessions are 50 mins and are £50, payable via bank transfer in advance.
I do offer a 15-20 min free telephone conversation to allow time for us to assess if we feel we can work together.
